What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes a unique identifier that is sent to your computer or mobile phone (referred to here as a “device”) browser from a website’s computer & is stored on your device’s hard drive. Each website can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser’s preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a website to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites. Many sites do this whenever a user visits their website in order to track online traffic flows.

Users have the opportunity to set their devices to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at any time. The last of these means that certain personalised services cannot then be provided to that user & accordingly you may not be able to take full advantage of all of www.simonconn.com features. Each browser is different, so check the “Help” menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.

During the course of any visit to www.simonconn.com, the pages you see, along with a cookie, are downloaded to your device. Many websites do this because cookies enable website publishers to do useful things like finding out whether the device (& probably its user) has visited the website before. This is done on a repeat visit by checking to see, & finding, the cookie left there on the last visit.

Information supplied by cookies can help us to analyse the profile of our visitors & help us to provide you with a better user experience.

www.simonconn.com and/or the proprietor may also use a number of independent measurement & research companies. They gather information regarding the visitors to www.simonconn.com sites on our behalf using cookies, log file data & code which is embedded on our website. www.simonconn.com uses this type of information to help improve the services it provides to its users. www.simonconn.com requires that 3rd parties comply strictly with its instructions & terms of this Privacy policy & our terms & conditions. We suggest you should always check how cookies work via your browser.

This website uses the Google AdWords Remarketing Service

This website uses the Google AdWords remarketing service to advertise on third party websites (including Google) to previous visitors to our site. It could mean that we advertise to previous visitors who haven’t completed a task on our site, for example using the contact form to make an enquiry. This could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page or a site in the Google Display Network. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to the www.simonconn.com website. Of course, any data collected will be used in accordance with our own privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

As part of Google AdWords, we use a tool called conversion tracking. When you click on an ad served by Google, a conversion tracking cookie is set. Cookies are small text files that your internet browser stores on your computer. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification of the user. Should the user visit certain pages of the www.simonconn.com website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and the www.simonconn.com website can tell that the user clicked on the ad and proceeded to that page.

Each Google AdWords advertiser has a different cookie. Thus, cookies cannot be tracked using the website of an AdWords advertiser. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for the AdWords advertisers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers are told the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a conversion tracking tag page. However, advertisers do not obtain any information that can be used to personally identify users. If you do not want to participate in tracking, you can opt-out of this by easily disabling the Google Conversion Tracking cookie by changing your browser settings. In doing so, you will not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.

You can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Preferences page, and if you want to you can opt out of interest-based advertising entirely by cookie settings or permanently using a browser plugin.

You can also read here about how Google manages data in its Ads products.
